Preparing for the move....

Rob & I are leaving in December for Sicily & will be living there for 3 years. We have 2 months left of deployment..then he will be home. I'm missing him like crazy right now. We will spend a month going back & forth between Columbus, GA & Jacksonville, FL before we leave.

My thoughts on moving....
I. Love. America. I think Georgia is by far the best state in the US! & Florida is pretty great too. Everything in America feels like "home" when I think about living so far away..no matter what state.

I have had lots of thoughts & emotions about leaving. I anticipate.. & hope.. that once we get settled in our new home in Sicily, that we will fall in love with it- the culture, people, food, landscape, etc. But I am still on the outside. I have not fallen in love with it yet. This leaves me feeling homesick for the states when I haven't even left yet... & feeling nervous & scared for the journey that lies ahead. I'm praying & trusting that God will guide us. He doesn't have to go with us because He's already there. He is the God of all nations & the Maker of us all. I will trust Him.

Another thing...
Beyond all of the fears & thoughts I would have just considering the move alone.. this summer we found out my daddy has small cell lung cancer. He is going through chemo treatments right now. Mom retired from teaching kindergarten to stay home & take care of him. I am going home to Columbus about once a month to spend time with mom, daddy, & Jesse (brother). I am frustrated that I cannot control anything... I just said that I will trust my Lord... but its hard for me to not know when I will be able to come home within the next 3 years to see our families. Will mom & dad need my help? Will he live for 2 years or 20 years? When do we want to start our own little family? Will parents be able to come visit? I will trust Him.

We have lots to do & lots of details to figure out along the way. We are selling the house & lots of our stuff. Pretty much everything needs paperwork & a power of attorney attached! I really want to live a simple life. Maybe when we move to Sicily. But for right now I would be lost without my phone & planner..I'm staying busy with work (RN at Clay Behavioral Health Center.. I love it), taking trips to Columbus, a million things to do for the move, and squeezing all of the love out of my best friends while I'm still here. I will trust Him.
